Although the Spanish capital has a history of winegrowing, in recent years it has pursued greater quality and currently produces outstanding reds made from Tempranillo grapes, which provide a fantastic alternative to the traditional Riojas and Riberas.
Sanz La Capital Roble is an interesting new wine. This red is great value for money and, coming from Vinos Sanz, its quality
is assured. Vinos Sanz is the longest-standing winery in the D.O. Rueda and a leading name in this Denominación where
its wines are among the top Spanish whites. In 2013 it decided to expand into the D.O. Vinos de Madrid.
Sanz La Capital Roble is made wholly from Spain’s star grape variety, Tempranillo, which has been grown in Madrid since early times. This is a tasty, meaty red with a good weight of fruit, a superb, refreshing acidic edge, and a long finish with hints of spice from its barrel ageing (5 months). Its label, featuring an illustration of Madrid’s river, is a tribute to the landscape of the capital.
The historical ties between the Tempranillo grape and the Madrid region are reflected in marvellous single-variety wines such as Sanz La Capital Roble . Don’t miss this red from a leading winery with a perfect balance between fruit and oak.
